rPath among Linux Magazine’s “Top 20 Companies to Watch in 2008”
RALEIGH, NC (January 22, 2008) – rPath®, whose unique technology creates virtual appliances and simplifies application distribution, today announced that the company was included in Linux Magazine’s “Top 20 Companies to Watch in 2008,” American Venture Magazine’s “2008’s Most Promising Start-ups” and CEO and founder Billy Marshall was honored by Business Leader magazine as one of the “2007/2008 Impact Entrepreneurs for the Triangle.”
Linux Magazine, which is now entering its eighth year of continuous publication, offers the broadest and most in-depth coverage of all things Linux. The magazine’s “Top 20 Companies to Watch in 2008” was compiled by industry experts, a reader poll and the observations of the Linux Magazine editorial staff.
“rPath has paved the way to easy virtual appliances with their rBuilder technology and the rPath Appliance Platform. We believe rPath has a solution that will appeal to a lot of independent software companies in the coming year. That is why they were selected as one of our companies to watch,” stated Joe Brockmeier, editor-in-chief, Linux Magazine Media Group.
rPath was also named one of “2008’s Most Promising Start-ups” by American Venture Magazine. This year over 350 emerging companies took part in the submission process, out of which 33 finalists were chosen for their teamwork, vision, market leadership and technological achievements. All winners were venture-funded and had the ability to make crucial developments with energy and passion, under a focused leadership and toward a common goal. American Venture Magazine is the nation’s largest publication dedicated to the early-stage technology market.
In addition to rPath’s corporate honors, CEO and founder, Billy Marshall, was named one of Business Leader magazine’s “2007/2008 Impact Entrepreneurs for the Triangle.” This year, the publication received over 150 nominations. This award recognizes the tremendous achievements and the contributions entrepreneurs (and their companies) make to the Triangle business community.
“These industry honors are further testament to rPath’s unmatched innovation in software and virtual appliances, and we are excited to be the catalyst for a new software industry model,” said Billy Marshall, rPath founder and CEO. "We intend to transform the software industry by simplifying application distribution and management, and these awards represent terrific milestones along the path to that vision."
